Natural Dye Club Summer 2024 - Dyeing With Invasive Weeds
Learn the basics of dyeing fibres using plants found in your own backyard and neighbourhood!
This dye club teaches the basics of natural dyeing and will set you up for diving deeper into the fascinating world of creating colour using plants, mushrooms, lichen, roots, and bark. In this online dye club, you’ll learn:
fibre and dyestuff preparation
what equipment is needed
best practices for safety
sustainable foraging
reliable resources
and much more!
Over the course of several weeks, as the plants mature, you’ll be instructed to head out into your neighbourhood to gather the plants which will be used to create yarns dyed in a variety of nature’s colours. From your samples, you’ll choose the yarns to knit the Clayoquot Toque from Canadian knitwear designers Tin Can Knits. Project ideas for non-knitters can be suggested.
Participants will be added to the private Dye Club group email through which the modules will be delivered and serve as the place for us to share, ask questions, and meet other people interested in natural dye journey.
Join now as the fun begins the first week of July!
